Last week, AIA National officially announced this year’s list of Fellows—a program developed to elevate architects making significant contributions not only to the profession but also to society. Out of the 149 elevated, 24 are from California—a number of which to be very proud. See the official list of all below:
The Fellowship program was developed to elevate those architects who have made a significant contribution to architecture and society and who have achieved a standard of excellence in the profession. Election to fellowship not only recognizes the achievements of architects as individuals, but also their significant contribution to architecture and society on a national level.
The 2016 Jury of Fellows from the American Institute of Architects (AIA) elevated 149 AIA members to its prestigious College of Fellows. Out of a total AIA membership of over 88,000 there are over 3,200 members distinguished with this honor.

Shannon Calder, a Sacramento-based writer, joined the AIA California in 2013. She spends her days both on and off hours, looking for connection, which is a good hobby to have when linking the value of design to public perception.
