Advocacy Updates|

The California State Legislature is busy hearing and voting on legislation in their policy and fiscal committees in the process to determine which legislative bills will remain alive for additional consideration.

Our sponsored bill, AB 1010 has already passed the State Assembly – one of the few bills to have already moved this far in the legislative process.  AB 1010 would create a new Zero Net Carbon Design continuing education requirement for architects.  This continuing education will prepare architects for anticipated upcoming changes in building codes and standards, as well as changing expectations from clients.

The AIA CA Board of Directors recently adopted AIA CA positions on other legislation that covers a variety of topics, including licensure, school bonds, building standards, planning, permitting, and housing.  You can see the Board-approved positions here.
