Ahead of A’23, AIA California will host a Townhall for California delegates and members to hear from all the candidates running for AIA National office and any business taking place at the AIA Annual Business Meeting. Additionally, learn about all of the events AIA California will be hosting at the 2023 Conference on Architecture and how you can join in on the fun.

Join colleagues as they consider the direction of AIA—and add your voice to the discussion.

The annual gathering to review AIA business will bring you opportunities to connect with colleagues, meet newly elected officers, hear updates on the institute’s activities and finances, and vote on amendments to institute bylaws and resolutions. With input from long-time leaders, new practitioners, and you, this conversation will help shape the future of AIA and the industry.

Talk to your local AIA Component to learn more about serving as a delegate at the AIA Annual Business Meeting.

AEC Cares #ProjectSanFrancisco

Larkin Street Youth Center, San Francisco

This year, AEC Cares joins forces with the Larkin Street Youth (LSY) for #projectSanFrancisco. More than just a shelter, LSY helps thousands of young people ages 18-24 with temporary housing, mental health, and career counseling. 

On June 7, the day before A’23 kicks off, more than 100 attendees will converge to paint, install, flooring, build furniture, replace lighting, and more. When finished, the Lark Inn will have several beautifully updated spaces to provide vital services to San Francisco’s most vulnerable young people.

AIASF LGBTQ+ Alliance Happy Hour

Hosted by AIA San Francisco

Join fellow LGBTQ+ conference attendees, allies, local LGBTQ architects, designers, builders, and community leaders for an evening of networking and community building. We will enjoy drinks, hors d’oeuvres, and city views from the rooftop of SWA Group’s San Francisco studio near Union Square. Feel free to don some colorful garb, bring a few business cards, and get ready to make some connections! All are welcome.

SAY IT LOUD California will elevate the contributions of BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, People of Color) and women designers and architects through the Conference Exhibition as well as regional exhibitions and events across the state in 2023 and beyond.

Join Urban Design enthusiasts from across North America for a reception in the Historic Russ Building! You’ll share conversation and discuss the future of livable cities with resident experts who tell the real story of San Francisco as a remarkable place to live, work, learn, and play.

This reception is a short self-guided walking tour from the central A’23 event concourse. You’ll experience the wonder of downtown as the sun sets among landmarks, cable cars, hidden alleys, and postcard views of China Town, Union Square, Belden Lane, and the Financial district. AIA National and AIASF have numerous volunteer opportunities throughout the conference from June 7 to 10, and volunteering is a great way to get involved and receive free access to the conference.
