ARCHITECTURE SCHOLARSHIP RECIPIENTS ANNOUNCED

Sacramento, Calif.—The annual Paul Welch Jr. ARE Scholarship was awarded this year to five individuals.

The purpose of this scholarship is to recognize the significant contributions of California interns at early stages in their careers, and to encourage them to complete the licensure process.

Awardees receive a 1-year subscription to online study materials; reimbursement of the cost of passing each division of the Architect Registration Examination, and the CA Supplemental Exam, as well as reimbursement of NCARB and CAB fees to establish records.

The 2020 jury members were Thomas Fowler, FAIA; Thomas Gerfen, FAIA; Meghana Joshi, Assoc. AIA; Sonny Ward, AIA, and Paul Welch Jr. Hon. AIA, and had their work cut out for them as the number of applicants was the highest on record since the scholarship’s inception.

The jury agreed that all candidates went above and beyond what is simply asked of them. They exceed academic and professional achievements and seemed to take to the next level of already serving their communities through the profession. There was unanimous consensus in the high level of qualification and maturity. The jury felt confident that those chosen were a highly driven group of candidates who will no doubt make excellent contributions as licensed architects.

This year’s recipients are:

345 Madhubala
345 Dana
345 HeatherMidoriSantos Headshot
345 Alisa
345 Darnell 2
