“Good design conserves and improves the quality of water as a precious resource.” AIA Framework for Design Excellence

Green Infrastructure and Storm Water Management

July 13, 2021 | 12:00pm-1:30pm PT

Speaker
Jim MacRae, PLA, LEED AP | Principal, Urban Designer, Design Workshop

Life cannot exist without clean and available water. Our water infrastructure system needs to utilize this resource more efficiently so we can deal with changes to climatic conditions and the fluctuations of available water that result.  It is time to rethink and redesign how we re-use storm water in urbanized areas.

This seminar will provide ideas and examples of how storm water can be captured, cleaned and re-used at various project scales from district, campus, site and building scales. The presenters of this seminar will talk about and showcase recent LID projects in the US and Southern California that illustrate design approaches and benefits for storm water management (volumes, treatment, etc.) at various scales.
