The AIA California Council has two Young Architect Director positions on its Board of Directors, one North and one South, representing assigned chapters in each part of the state (refer to Appendix A.8 for jurisdictional map of the AIACC).  YA Directors serve two year terms on the AIACC Board of Directors and are elected every two years  The YA Directors are funded to attend meetings of the AIACC Board of Directors within their respective jurisdictions, state Academy for Emerging Professionals meetings, and Regional Forums, within a certain budget limitation.

YA Directors also serve on The AIACC Academy for Emerging Professionals – Council of Advisors. YA Directors must be full AIA Members in good standing when they are selected.  AIA Associates who are not yet licensed but expect to become licensed within the first year of YA directorship or their term of office may be eligible.  However, if they do not complete their full licensure examinations within the first year, they can not continue into their second year position.

AIACC YAF Directors are the direct link between the state organization and the chapter Young Architect Forum & EP Directors. They represent YA Member interests on the state Board of Directors and distribute information to and solicit opinions from the chapter YAF/EP Directors.
