SACRAMENTO, Calif. –The American Institute of Architects California Board of Directors voted on the 2022 Elected Officers December 1. Mandy Freeland, AIA was elected as the 2022/2023 Vice President of the Academy of Emerging Professionals.

The Bakersfield architect has served at the local, state, and national level of AIA, serving as president, Young Architect Regional Direct, AIA Blueprint for Better Champion, and more.

Freeland also serves within her community. In 2017 and 2018 She sat on the Bakersfield HSR Historic & Cultural Mitigation Committee where she participated in creating requirements and programs for funding historic and cultural preservation at the high speed rail station in downtown Bakersfield.

As far as her upcoming service to the profession as the VP of AEP, she said, “I’m looking forward to collaborating with our VP of Professional Practice to add programs and resources to newly licensed architects to strengthen then next generation of our profession, as well as continuing our work with architecture students, education programs, and supporting the architecture candidates. I hope to connect to all of our California chapters to see how we can help support the emerging professionals throughout the state.”
