SACRAMENTO, Calif.—AIA California held their annual officer elections in November, which resulted in  the 2022 Vice-President Elect position going to Scott Gaudineer,AIA. He succeeds Rona Rothernberg, FAIA, as she moves to the 2022 AIA CA President’s chair.

Gaudineer is no stranger to the AIA at the local and state level. He has been serving on his local board, the state executive committee, or volunteering with the California Architectural Foundation since 1991.

As the President of Flewelling & Moody, Inc., an architecture and planning firm in Los Angeles, he brings both architectural and business acumen to the table.

In his philosophy statement, he declared, “AIA CA is the Voice of our profession. We must all, collectively, be a part of that Voice at the local and state level. Whether it is promoting environmental stewardship, championing livable communities or fostering equality, diversity and inclusiveness (EDI), we need to continue to be the ‘Architect in the Room’.

His goals over the next two years are to further develop the local advocacy network in all chapters; to cultivate and support partnerships with allied organizations to strengthen the profession’s voice, and to increase outreach to colleges, universities, and high schools in order to engage the future generations of architects.
