Helping You Today While Also Planning for What’s Next

AIACA Working for You Helping You Today While Also Planning for What’s Next x

As we start the new year, it is a natural time to plan – and across the AIA, we are continuing our work to help you address an increasingly complex professional landscape, by providing resources and leadership needed to address the most pressing challenges facing architectural practice in 2026. Here are just three things at the top of our list…

  1. Advancing Climate Action and Resilient Design
AIA California is equipping you to lead on climate, carbon reduction, and resilience through advocacy, education, and resources that support California’s ambitious energy and sustainability goals. By aligning practice tools with evolving codes and policies—such as the updated CALGreen checklist which we will release 02.15.26 (and is for use in conjunction with the 2025 California Green Building Standards Code – CALGreen)—AIA California will help you deliver your documents.
  1. Supporting Smarter Use of Technology and AI
We know navigating the tangled web of emerging technologies is a full-time job. However, we also know one of the highest ranked benefits of AIA membership is the network of peers, thought leaders, and colleagues. We are here to help you and your firm evaluate changing technologies by sharing best practices, continuing our robust learning opportunities, and fostering conversations around AI, digital workflows, and innovation. Check out this upcoming session on AI by one of our trusted partners BQE.
  1. Strengthening the Business of Architecture and the Workforce
We are committed to supporting architects and firms at every stage of their journey. Providing leadership training, business resources, and workforce programs that help practices stay strong—whether that means planning for the future, improving firm management, or investing in mentorship, equity, and emerging talent – we’ve heard you, clearly, that these are some of the most valued benefits of your membership in AIA.

And as you are undoubtedly strategically planning for 2026, AIA is as well:

  • At the national level, they are also looking how to help focus energy and resources on what matters most to its members, ensuring the organization remains relevant, responsive, and valuable. Check out the draft of AIA’s Strategic Plan 2026-2030 and share your feedback through a short survey or join a public comment session to share your thoughts directly with AIA leadership and help finalize our path forward.
  • AIA California will be developing its 2027-2030 Strategic Plan later this year to align across the organization and continue to advocate for the profession – in a variety of different ways – across our state.

I hope these messages reinforce what you know… at AIA California, our work always starts with you.

We’re advocating on your behalf, keeping a close eye on the issues that affect your practice, turning what we hear from members into practical tools, resources, and sharing opportunities (across the state and the nation). As the profession continues to change, we’re committed to showing up, speaking up, and helping you navigate what’s next—so you can stay focused on doing your best work. These are just a few of the many ways AIA California will be Working For You in 2026!
