Greetings from the AIA California Office,
2024 is speeding along at a rapid clip, but “speed” ties in directly with this week’s featured way, AIA California is Working for You to address the breakneck speed of technological innovation.
Big picture: It’s fascinating to consider how rapidly digital technologies allow the architectural profession to design and deliver projects that might have previously taken days, weeks, months. Small picture: It’s a challenge to keep up with best practices, and the latest apps. Especially for smaller firms and sole practitioners. But, as we know, given the rapidly changing conditions, all of us are constantly on the lookout for new capabilities and functionalities.
That’s why AIA California’s Practice Committee launched the Technology Toolkit in 2023, an architecturally crowd-sourced data resource library of tools, technologies, and platforms to help industry professionals innovate, improve, run, and manage their practice.
Information includes such essentials as cost and compatibility, e.g., Windows or Mac, as well as a description of use and functionality.
But the key element of this resource library is its searchability, with filters that break down firm size; and app usage, ie. accounting, design, project management, finance, and more—so that you can easily identify the technology type you’re searching for.
We’re continuing to evolve this resource and will be adding additional features soon, including user input and feedback. Interested in contributing? Click here to connect with AIA California staff. And here’s the link to the Technology Toolkit, again.
Please take advantage of it before April hits. Speak to you next week.
