Late summer rolling into Fall is traditionally the AIA California election season. A Call for Nominations is announced, open positions noticed, candidate statements posted, and, come mid-November, elections held by the Board.
This year, as we announce our Call for Nominations, we are excited that elections for the 2026 positions mark the transition to an enhanced governance structure for AIA California – a milestone we’ve reached after more than two years of meetings, charettes, and votes amongst the AIA California Executive Committee, Governance Task Force, and AIA California Board members representing Chapters across the state.
For the 2026 elections, we will be electing a First Vice President/President Elect and a Treasurer/Secretary. We will not be filling the four Vice President positions that are terming out in 2025. This approach allows for continuity in the 2026 Executive Committee leadership, and as such, they can begin working within the framework of the new governance model upon its final approval later this year.
We recognize this is a departure from our typical election cycle. If you have questions about these positions, the transition process, or how this fits without our new governance structure initiative, please don’t hesitate to contact Nicki Dennis Stephens, Hon. AIA at ndennis@aiacalifornia.org.
We encourage qualified members who are committed to advancing our association’s mission, especially during this important transition period, to consider stepping forward for leadership roles on the Executive Committee or by volunteering on an AIA CA committee.
Thank you for your continued dedication to AIA California.
