Study Hub is AIA California’s pathway for emerging professionals to study and pursue licensure. These statewide ARE study sessions and virtual study groups serve as a hub for education, connection, and community. Project Development & Documentation (PDD) focuses on the integration and documentation of building systems, material selection, and material assemblies into a project. You should be able to demonstrate an understanding of and abilities in integration of civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and specialty systems into overall project design and documentation. California’s 2022 Building Energy Efficiency Standards (Title 24, Part 6 or the Energy Code) requirements for outdoor lighting wattage allowances and controls depends not only on building type, but also scope of work (such as New Construction versus Alterations). In this one-hour presentation, we will review outdoor lighting requirements for single-family, multifamily, nonresidential, hotel and motel building types of all applicable scopes of work and what compliance documentation is required for each project type. 2024: A Year of Stabilization and Reset. California’s economic performance has lagged national performance for the last few years – technology sector layoffs, regional banking crises, and the exodus of a significant portion of the workforce to other states have taken its toll. However, home sales are tentatively rebounding and the population grew in 2023, halting three years of decline. As California continues its path to economic recovery, this session takes a closer look at trends in construction and development, real estate supply and demand signals, emerging trends, and demographic shifts amidst volatility. We will also discuss what the future holds for different market sectors across the state.
