Note: As part of AIA California’s new governance structure, a staggered election cycle is being implemented. Members will vote for either a one-year term or two-year term for this election cycle.

Important Dates

August 12, 2026Call for Nominations posted
September 10, 2026Nominations and candidate materials due (photos, bio, philosophies for all positions)
September 17, 2026Post list of nominees (all positions) on the AIA CA website and Relevance newsletter
November 13, 2026Additional nominations (if any) from the floor accepted during the AIA CA Annual Board of Directors Meeting

Candidate Process:

  • Interested candidates should complete and submit, via the Submittable platform, the on-line the nomination form and include the following:
    1. Nomination letter
    2. Supporting letter(s) (optional)
    3. Professional biography of 100 words or less
    4. Candidate statement of 200 words or less
    5. Professional headshot (graphic file)*

 Elections Procedure:

  • The nominees for the 2027 open positions will be certified by the AIA CA Procedures and Documents Committee.
  • Qualifying nomination packages will be forwarded to AIA CA Communications for publication on the AIA CA website and in the newsletter.
  • The election for all open positions will be held during the AIA CA Annual Board of Directors Meeting on November 13, 2026.
  • Candidates for all offices will give a speech, not to exceed 3 minutes in length.
  • Statements of background and philosophy will be included in the agenda packet for the AIA CA Board of Directors Meeting being held on November 13, 2026.

*Candidates may submit nomination letters and/or letters of support from any individual, AIA member or otherwise. Letters must not exceed two pages, including letterhead.

Nomination letters and letters of support will not be published on the AIA California website or included in the Relevance newsletter.
