Licensure – Reporting Update for July 1, 2025

New MCE Reporting Requirement Starts July

As you may already know, California requires five (5) hours of coursework in Disability Access and as of January 1, 2023, also requires five (5) hours of coursework in Zero Net Carbon Design (ZNCD).

STARTING July 1, 2025: The California Architects Board (CAB) strongly recommends you upload your MCE certificates of completion when renewing your license online with CAB. Uploading your MCE documentation shows your compliance with license renewal requirements in the event you are audited.

AIA CA regularly hosts live webinars focused on climate action & ZNCD, practice, EDI, housing, and more, but you have the opportunity now to take MCE courses on-demand through our learning center!

Check out the links below to access both our MCE Accessibility and ZNCD courses on-demand:

Going forward, please always remember to save your MCE certificates of completion for your records.
