Speaker: Sabas Padilla, Assoc. AIA About Our Speaker: Sabas is an Associate AIA member at the California Central Valley Chapter in Sacramento. He works as a designer for Ware Malcomb and specializes in preliminary site plans for programming and analysis. He has been involved in over 500 unique projects across various industries, including industrial, cold storage, multi-family residential, laboratories, and film studios. He is on-track to becoming a licensed architect by 2024 and has recently completed the Practice Management, and Programming & Analysis exams.

This year's ceremony promises to be an extraordinary celebration, featuring a special inclusion of students from the Cal Poly San Luis Obispo College of Architecture. Event Details: Date: November 17, 2023 Time: 4:00P - 9:00P Location: Cal Poly San Luis Obispo Campus, Berg Gallery, 1 Grand Ave, San Luis Obispo, CA 93407 Agenda: Architecture Fair: From 4:00P - 6:00P, explore the projects, firms, and outstanding individuals who have received our prestigious awards this year. This fair provides a unique opportunity for students and professionals alike to gain insights into the latest trends and exceptional achievements in the world of architecture. o  Tables will be provided to those firms and individuals who wish to take part in the fair. We encourage all recipients to take part, bring handouts on their projects and chat with students. o  A poster board gallery of the recipients will be on display for students and professionals. Come join the us as we review the form in depth, answer questions, and discuss common mistakes caught by the Common Application Review Jury. The Common App for Design Excellence is an Excel-based tool, originally conceived of and developed by Corey Squire, AIA; Helena Zambrano, AIA; and Anne Schopf, FAIA; and others. The tool is intended to help streamline sustainability reporting for AIA design awards. Since its inception, more than two dozen Design Awards Committees at the state and local level have adopted the Common App as part of the submission requirements for their chapter’s design awards. Over the past year, the COTE Network Common App Subcommittee has refreshed the Common App to improve consistency with the AIA Framework for Design Excellence and to enhance user functionality. - AIA COTE Network If planning to submit for the AIA California Design Awards, please look over the Common Application prior to the webinar and prepare questions to ask the panelists.
