The Housing Steering Committee is the leadership body of AIA CA members engaged in housing who identify and respond to both current and emerging issues related to housing in California. This Committee will gather best practices in housing innovation, both in infrastructure as well as policy; and advocate for housing solutions that are consistent with AIA CA policies and done in collaboration with our partners.

The Interior Design Taskforce will review AIA CA’s position in relation to the national AIA position on interior design licensure, gather feedback from members and prepare for discussion and potential action by the AIA CA Board. They will also discuss current advocacy efforts to address this issue and evaluate need for further action.

This committee is responsible for planning and executing the world-renowned, biannual Monterey Design Conference. The committee is tasked with the planning, marketing, and recruitment of speakers and sponsors while maintaining the integrity of the program and the singular focus on design excellence both in the United States and throughout the world.

The California CACE Opportunity Fund encourages grant proposals for pilot programs that may be models for other components, provides leadership training opportunities for components, and provides funding to expand membership activities that would be of benefit to all components. This committee is responsible for vetting all proposals and making recommendations to the AIA CA Executive Committee for funding.

This AIA California Board committee is responsible for developing operational and programmatic strategies to achieve Board-approved goals and objectives. They also monitor and review the financial management and operations of the organization.

This AIA California Board committee is responsible for considering all matters relating to organizational documents, policies, and is responsible for the management of the elections process.

This committee identifies emerging trends in practice and facilitates education and communication about the wide range of issues relevant to today’s practice of architecture.

This committee develops and implements the awards program to recognize and celebrate examples of innovation and excellence in a variety of housing typologies in California and across the country.

This subcommittee recognizes that disasters, both climate and non-climate related, happen, with many increasing in frequency. This group provides education and advocates for consideration and application of resilience in the built environment to better prepare the architectural profession and industry professionals to respond to an ever changing and more unexpected environment.

This task force provides commentary and insight in response to changing dynamics within the workforce and the need for a cultural shift within the architectural profession.
